More Than a Day on the Water
Fernweh Fly Co was built around a simple idea: fly fishing should be about more than catching fish. It should take you somewhere new, teach you something, and leave you with a story worth telling. What started with a fly rod and a desire to learn has grown into a team of anglers, guides, creators, and friends committed to helping more people experience fly fishing across Arkansas.

Our Story
Fernweh Fly Co started in 2022 when Carrie picked up a fly rod and began learning to fish from a dock on Lake Charles in northeast Arkansas. What began as curiosity quickly became something much bigger.
Along the way, she met Josh “Goose,” an experienced Arkansas and Missouri fly fishing guide who became a friend, mentor, and eventually part of Fernweh. Ross joined the journey soon after, bringing his background in fisheries and wildlife and a shared love for exploring Arkansas by water.
Since then, fly fishing has taken us from cold-water rivers in northern Arkansas to smallmouth streams in the Ouachita Mountains and waters across the country. Today, Fernweh Fly Co offers guided fly fishing trips and lessons on the Spring River near Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, helping both new and experienced anglers enjoy one of the state's most unique fisheries.
Fernweh grew out of those experiences, and the belief that some of the best days on the water aren't necessarily the ones with the biggest fish. They're the long drives, missed casts, new places, good friends, and stories you keep telling afterward.
That's what Fernweh Fly Co is about: helping more people get on the water, learn something new, explore somewhere new, and come home with stories of their own.
